Custom-built chip conveyors will be engineered individually for your application. Instead of fixed dimensions, the conveyor design is selected and configured based on your machine footprint, chip type, coolant volume, discharge height and available space on the shop floor.
Depending on the task and chip characteristics, several conveyor concepts can be used and combined:
- Hinge plate type conveyors - suitable for transporting long chips, coiled chips and mixed steel or cast iron chips, with robust hinge plates and heavy-duty chains for reliable operation in turning and milling centres.
- Scraper type conveyors - ideal for short chips, fine chips and cast iron machining, where scrapers drag chips along the bottom of the trough, ensuring stable chip removal even with high coolant flow.
- Magnetic and wedge-scraper conveyors - designed for applications with small or fine ferrous chips or aluminium and cast iron in combination with high coolant volumes, providing integrated magnetic separation and high filtration accuracy.
- Integrated conveyor + filtration systems - complete solutions that combine chip transport with coolant cleaning, using drum filters, paper band filters, magnetic separators or PDM backwash systems to maintain coolant quality and extend machine uptime.
The manufacturer’s platform allows a wide range of configurations for custom conveyors, including different chain pitches, scraper spacing, belt widths, incline heights and discharge points. Gear motors, drive options and sensor packages are selected to match the required chip load, conveyor speed and duty cycle in your production.
Custom chip conveyor systems can be supplied as stand-alone units for a single CNC machine or as part of a central chip and coolant handling system serving multiple machines. Solutions are widely used in machine tool manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, energy and general machining environments where reliable chip evacuation and coolant cleanliness are critical.
When sending a request for a custom chip conveyor, please include your machine model or application details, required working length and width, discharge height, chip material and form, coolant type and any special requirements such as fine filtration, magnetic separation or integration into an existing coolant tank. Based on this information, a tailored design and quotation will be prepared.
