Standard and High-Precision ER Collets: ER collets can clamp tools of various diameters. Standard collets are typically manufactured with an accuracy of 0.01 to 0.015 mm, while high-precision collets feature minimal runout of 0.005 or 0.008 mm. For instance, the ER25-10 collet has a clamping range of 10–9 mm (0.394”–0.354”), indicating that ER collets can also clamp tools with a diameter smaller by 0.5–1 mm (0.02”–0.04”).
Pull Studs: Pull studs for milling machines screw into the narrow end of the milling toolholder taper and serve as the gripping component to secure the toolholder in the machine spindle taper. As rotational components, they have a thread on one side and a head for the spindle clamp on the other. To select the correct pull stud, you need your machine’s documentation and knowledge of the toolholder standard.
